Pre-B’nei Mitzvah Family Retreat

Strengthening our Community &

Making Becoming a Bar/Bat Mitzvah More Meaningful

On Friday April 16, 4:30pm, together in-person outdoor, socially distanced we will engage in fun games, conversation, dinner and participate with the community in Kabbalat Shabbat Services. Your child becoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah is also an opportunity to create a meaningful Shabbat ritual as a family and this session will give us some direction in this area. Shabbat Services will be held outdoors and with a very limited number of invited guests. Each family will have designated socially distanced seating and all health and safety guidelines will be followed. We are so excited to be able to offer an in-person portion of this program. We are able to offer your family a individually packaged, delicious dinner for purchase or you are welcome to bring your own Kosher Style picnic. (No pork, shellfish, mixing of milk and meat).

On Sunday April 18 at 9:30-10:45am we are meeting for a family Torah Trek. On this hike you will stay together as a family unit, and be guided through a morning of meaningful activities along the beautiful Laguna Coast Wilderness Park. After an afternoon break, 3-5pm we come together virtually with activities for families, an adult conversation about parenting teens through a Jewish lens, an exciting interactive teen relationship building program and an introduction to the B’nei Mitzvah program at TBESOC. This session is so important - it will allow you to tap into the deeper meaning of this process and you will leave with vital information to prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Attendance and participation in this program is required in order to become a bar/bat mitzvah at TBESOC. Please RSVP by April 13, 2021.

You are welcome to bring a picnic dinner or choose an individually packaged hot dinner. If you would like to order dinner for your family please choose from the options above. Each meal comes with salad and rice.

The health and safety of our families is a priority. While participating in all of the activities during the Pre-B’nei Mitzvah Retreat we will be following the health and safety guidelines provided by the local health department. This includes health screening upon arrival, provided hand sanitizer, socially distant activities and face coverings MUST be worn at all times except when eating or drinking. In addition, each family will have individual socially distant spaces. Your RSVP to this event indicates your family’s agreement to follow these guidelines.
