Life Cycle Events

Our clergy are available to assist Temple Beth El of South Orange County members with all lifecycle events. From the beginning of life and all events that follow, we provide personalized service that meets the needs of individual families. For more information regarding an upcoming lifecycle event, please call the Temple Office at 949.362.3999 .

Brit Milah (Circumcision) and Baby Naming:

Temple Beth El clergy are available to assist with brit milah and baby naming either in your home or at the synagogue as part of a regularly scheduled service. For brit milah, we work with several mohalim (ritual circumcisers) in the area. It is recommended that you contact Temple Beth El clergy a few months before the expected birth in order to make arrangements. (Non-members: $360 at the synagogue; $540 off-site)

Bar/Bat Mitzvah:

Bar and Bat Mitzvah ceremonies are held on Saturday morning as part of our regular Shabbat worship and usually involve two honorees. Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation begins in sixth grade. (We do not offer b’nai mitzvah ceremonies for non-members)

Marriage:

Temple Beth El clergy are available to officiate at the wedding and renewal of vows ceremonies of members of the congregation. Clergy will also officiate at the marriage of same-sex couples, which, at the present time, must remain religious only. Since each member of the clergy has his/her own expectations for conducting a ceremony, it is recommended that you contact the clergy directly and set a date with the clergy before making any other commitments (such as caterer, band, etc.). Marriage Non-Member Fee $1800. Vow Renewal Non-Member Fee $1500

Funerals:

Temple Beth El clergy are available to conduct funeral services for members of the congregation. We can also conduct or organize shiva minyans in the home following the funeral and officiate over the stone setting one year later. Click here for Bereavement Resources. (Non-Members: $900/funeral, $360/unveiling)

Cemetery Plots
Preparing for the inevitable is a final gift for our loved ones. Of late, most of our members have chosen Harbor Lawn as their final resting place, so we purchased a group of plots in the Mount Olive Section. Our temple community’s area will be visibly labeled along the wall. Each plot is $6995, $1300 of which is a tax-deductible charitable contribution, to the extent permitted by law. Plots may be used for one individual, or converted with Harbor Lawn directly into a double-depth space for one dual interment. To discuss your potential purchase, please contact Rob Fecher (tbesocfinance@gmail.com). If you are ready to purchase a plot, click here.

Hanukat HaBayit (New Home Blessing): Temple Beth El clergy are available for new home blessings. (Non-Members: $360)
