Pikuach Nefesh

Jewish law states that the preservation of human life overrides all other commandments.

Our COVID Task Force places the highest priority on the health and safety of the members of our community . With the recent jump in COVID cases attributable to the highly contagious Omicron variant, we will be implementing the following changes to Shabbat services and upcoming events during the month of January 2022:

1.  All Shabbat Friday night and Saturday morning services will be available only online via live-streaming or Zoom. Please check the temple website or weekly emails for information and links.

2. For the Center for Jewish Learning students, there is no session on Monday, January 3, 2022 and a virtual session on January 10th (January 17th is the MLK holiday). The in-person reopening of CJL has been postponed to Monday, January 24th. The CJL will follow the practices of local school districts for in-person attendance with modified programming for safe participation.

3. ECC protocols remain in place per the direction of Community Care Licensing.

4. The First Friday Shabbat Festival scheduled for Friday, January 7, 2022 has been canceled. We will be live-streaming Shabbat services with Rabbi K’vod, Kim Gubner, and the Band of Milk and Honey at 6:00 pm. Please check the temple website or weekly emails for information and links.

5. The Kol Isha Shabbat Service (KISS) on Saturday, January 15, 2022, will be on Zoom. Please expect messages from KISS Chair, Wendy Lupul, with updates for service participants.

6. Comedy Night has been canceled and will be rescheduled when it can be done safely indoors or outside.

Mandatory indoor masking will continue to be expected for all visitors to the TBESOC building.

The COVID Task Force will continue to monitor the local health conditions and modify safety protocols when deemed necessary.

We are looking forward to connecting in person as soon as safely possible.
